| A Bit of History
People have used books in some form for more than 5,000 years. In ancient times, people wrote on clay tablets, strips of wood, or other materials. The term book comes from the early English word boc, which means tablet or written sheets. The first printed books in Europe appeared during the mid-1400's. Since then, millions of books have been printed on almost every subject and in every written language.(*1) What You'll Find Here Our Nation's first right is the right of the freedom of the press, Bill of Rights, Amendment I. To report the truth, tell a story, or to tell a lie (like tabloids). This right encompasses not only journalistic news but also books. It is one reason we are a great nation. Our freedom to read what ever we want to read and believe in whatever we want to believe in. Any one person or organization that says different is in error. As long as our government does not take those rights away from us through misappropriated bills and amendments, we not only can read anything we want to but publish anything as well. Many people are afraid of this right because it may allow others to print things about them that they don't want others to know about, read about, or to develope the ability to think. None-the-less it is OUR RIGHT as US citizens to print and read books of all types. This very same right allows the right for anyone to choose NOT to read anything if they choose not to. The Bill of Rights is the right "TO or NOT TO", and no one has the right to take that right away from us. In today's society our children are being taught that there is no such thing as right or wrong, good or bad, truth or lie. That it is all left up to the individual. Although this is not absolutly correct, we can allow it because everyone has the right to believe in whatever they want, whether we feel it is right or wrong, it is everyone's right to believe as they wish. If you want to be able to think for yourself then you must read both sides of a story, think about it and then deside for yourself what is the truth. Since our schools are filled with one sided information we have a selection of books here that are written by people who know of the information from the otherside. Most of the information contained in these books are factual based on investigations and personal experience. Read for your self. If you find seeds of doubt then research and read more for only by researching and reading information can you extinguish that doubt.
