A Bit of History
    Java was introduced in late 1995 as the need for web interactivity became more popular. A web program was written in Java and then compiled into a class file. In this class file are all the commands for the operation of the program as well as the "params" (parameters) for the "param name" tags written in the HTML page. These param names could include such information as background color, font size and colors, content information, hyperlinks, X/Y axis positions, speed and repeat times. A separate class file was written for each function. Some Applets could have as many as 20 class files. This became quite messy when the programs got bigger, so, in 1999 the Java ARchive (JAR) file was introduced. This archive file held all the various functions in one file. The file became bigger but not such a mess in the directory and it made programming in HTML easier.

     Some of the Applets on this site are of the old Applet code but still quite fun. We suggest: Bap, Breakout, for those that like quick thinking games; Basketball, Lights, Marbles, Numbers, Quiz Show and Tower of Hanoi for brain teasers; and Star Wars, Tail Gunner, Torpedo Alley and UFO for the battle games.
    As we said before, this site is not a Gamer site. These games are not for you who are already into heavy duty gaming. These are for the young, the newbie, and those who just want to have a bit of fun.
